New RadioUgly Awards programs to be announced this weekend. Win RadioUgly Gear!!!
Hey everyone, in two days I'm going to be starting construction on the new and final community site for Raginpit Magazine. I've been surveying a lot of features out on the net and to be real this new site is capable of doing a lot for bands, radio (Internet and On Air), Promotions, Labels and most of will be something unique for fans to look forward to.

I mention that last because I have noticed things like groups only being a source for people add them selves as just another link to their profile on websites everywhere.

I'm guessing they aren't really that popular.

I have been talking to several people across the net and out on the street. When I ask if they have any complaints about social sites like these Ning.com sites and Myspace Face book etc.

Well the complaints are pretty consistent with everyone all age brackets.

What I have heard and witnessed are:

Groups are too much effort to keep them current.

It's very difficult in keeping people interested in groups.

Adding Friends - people are tired of the frenzy and usually clear out most non-personal friends out of their list after a couple of months.

People hate all the emails from Ning sites.

Fans especially teenagers don't like it when bands try to add them all the time.

Events are a spamming nuisance.

Hardly anyone checks out the events pages if they are confusing.

Many people don't know how to use forums anymore, hence the participation has dropped off on sites. (focused niche sites and forums tend to do better)

Bands don't like paying monthly fees for EPK's (Electronic Press Kits).

To get to the short of it, I can fix a lot of these problems. What I would like to know is - What do you think would be good to have in a website if it's focused on music and metal? What if we want to be the number one resource for independent metal?

So if you don't mind, please comment and give your suggestions. I think the will help the most in deciding which way to go, and not waste time and space making parts of a website no one will be interested in.

***My Suggestion is we make our own Terms of Service agreement and let you have some say in how the rules will go on the site.

You can quote me on this...If we run with advertisers in the future. You can bet they will be metal ONLY and agree with our way of metal or get lost.

I really think you should do this.If you really believe in this I think do it for yourself first especially to keep the fire and interest. If you can crack this and get the kind of site you want working. I would sign up for this and park my Label on here to run alongside what I do on the blog. So nice and easy upload functions for players graphics and the ability to use the same code for this site My Space and blog for swift posting. I would also like to be able to provide you with new music and develop that. The chance to work on promotions with you for our Artists, of which The Raygun Girls are one of with these players and to place things like iTunes embed codes
This could be the start of something. Who knows

Build IT! Build IT! Raging Pit ROCKS! We have our "Monsters" "ning" site and we are building our new web site as we speak to switch over! We had hoped to be ready this month but...as you say it is EXPENSIVE, so maybe by next month! I encourage you to build a new, safe site and they will come! I have always loved the way Raging Pit is operated and the folks you have are top notch! My vote is BUILD IT!!
maybe we should partner up on the new site and ROCK THE FUCKING WORLD!! lol! just an idea...;o)~

See that's the idea! We actually want to partner up with everyone who joins.

Just imagine for a second, one site being all you need so you can talk to people at street level about clubs and great places to play, where to get cheap lodging while touring out and being able to get great advice on how to promote without people being sick of being on the net and being bombarded by entertainment artist.

At one time it was all casual and we set up some of the sickest shows on the planet right inside American legion halls and other remote spots that would support the underground. Most of all the people came in larger numbers and on their own.

If your tired of having to actually bug people about who you are, and would rather just entertain and have a good time and get fans the old fashion way (by just entertaining not spamming).

Then stick around, we plan on changing the game across the planet and we will be needing your participation and help.

Thanks everyone for all your input.

If you have anymore ideas about the new site, please keep posting.

First and foremost, I'd like to congratulate all of you who posted on this subject. IT MEANS THAT YOU GIVE A SHIT ABOUT YOUR ENTERTAINMENT ENVIRONMENT, even if Johnny had to e-mail your blind ass to come to the discussion. KUDOS!

Secondly, I completely enjoy my group, Metal 420. I don't find it that difficult to keep up with, except when I'm no where around a web portal. Let that be a lesson to you all- if you're going to make a group, pick something bigger then your band. Makes your job easier. BTW, in moving forward to a new site, Metal 420 is mine! Go find your own subject matter and group! If you're looking for suggestions, here's a few: A group for Metal car guys, or gearheads; A group for Metal models (we have a few on here); A group for extreme sports (BMX, dirtbike, quads, sandrails- what the hell do you think they listen to?); A group for visual artists; A group for learning web tricks- like making better flyers. I also see the potential of a forum, like the old powerslave.com, but be warned! It will probably come with plenty of shit-talkin'. But that's Metal, isn't it?!

Third, whatever you set up for event/show info, can you integrate 411.com or google so that people can get directions and verify addresses easily? Reverbnation may have a few more angles to exploit there as well.

Lastly, I can guarantee that if Johnny and Crew are going to revamp this fucker, it'll be even better then what we have presently, and by adding your voices with some thought and practicality, you all have added to a better vision of the future for independent Metal.

Now, where are my papers?
