This was on January 25th of this year at Seattle's El Corazon. The venue is very small, which means there are no security guards or gates to distance you from the stage. You are right up against it, within touching distance of the band and that's why I love the venue. That's why I got decent shots with a disposable camara.

The line-up wasn't nearly as good as last year's, but anything with Rotting Christ must not be missed!

They play mostly newer tunes from 2007's, "Theogonia." I wish they would play more from "Triarchy of Lost Lovers" but they did play "King of a Stellar War." I think "Snowing Still" and "Archon" would have been a wonderful choice, too. Of course, "Athanati Este" was a big hit. Also, just like last year, the band ended with "Non Serviam" as an encore. The crowd was screaming "Non Serviam! Play Non Serviam!" the entire night.

Anyone who hasn't seen them yet, do it! They have been around for 20+ years and are honestly unlike anything you've ever heard before. The Greek black metal scene overall is full of unique bands playing in the Greek black metal style heralded by bands like Rotting Christ and Varathron.

Second that! I was lucky enough to catch em in Calgary, AB. What a dream come true. Was close enough to prop up Sakis' mic when the stand fell over. Didn't get any good pics when they were playing though. Was too busy banging my head on the stage! Got to hang out with them before the gig though. Sakis and Themis are such down to earth cool guys.

... close enough to prop up Sakis' mic when the stand fell over...
Yes, that's how close I was, too.
The guys in Rotting Christ are awesome, they're the nicest band I've met. Then they start playing and all of this aggression and power shoot out of them.

I'm glad you went to the show, the turn-out in Seattle was pathetic and it's a huge city.
Too many coffee-guzzling indie-rockers to appreciate good black metal...

That's interesting, my trip took about four hours, too. I live on the Eastern side of Washington. Here, it doesn't even look like Seattle. It's tumbleweeds and dust storms, not evergreens and rain.
